Job summary

Addus HomeCare is hiring a Direct Support Professional to help seniors and people with disabilities live independently at home. This entry-level role offers flexible hours and the chance to learn quality home care fundamentals.

You will follow care plans, assist with personal care, light housekeeping, transportation, and support medication self-administration (no dosing). The position emphasizes reliability, communication, and organized work style.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year of in-home care experience.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver's license and insurance.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Good communication skills and being reliable, energetic, and well-organized.
• Comfortable using an electronic device.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.).
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments and daily errands as needed.
• Assist with self-administration of medications (no administration or measuring).
• Observe and report any changes in the member's condition.

DSP Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary.
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition.

DSP Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of in-home care services experience
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation, required for member transportation. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
