Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking an entry-level Direct Support Professional to help seniors and people with disabilities live independently. You will follow care plans, perform personal care tasks, assist with daily activities, and support transportation for appointments and errands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus one year of in-home care experience is preferred.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver's license and auto insurance.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Good communication skills; reliable, energetic, self-motivated and well-organized.
• Comfortable using an electronic device.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.).
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, errands, and other locations as needed.
• Assist member with self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring).
• Observe and report changes in member's condition.

DSP Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary.
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)

DSP Qualifications
