Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help seniors and individuals with disabilities live independently. This entry-level role offers flexible hours and growth potential within a nationwide leader in home care.

You will follow care plans, assist with personal care, light housekeeping, errands, and transportation. The role includes reporting changes in condition and supporting daily living activities to ensure client well-being.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least one year of in-home care experience.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions and work with limited supervision.
• Good communication skills and well-organized.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
• Transport member to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary
• Assist member with self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition

DSP Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation
• Transport member to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition

DSP Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of in-home care services experience
• Able to pass a criminal background check
• Reliable transportation, required for member transportation. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions
• Good communication skills
• Reliable, energetic, self-motivated and well-organized
• Comfortable using an electronic device
