Job summary

Allegheny Community Home Care is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide companion support for adults with intellectual disabilities in a Greentree area community home. This full-time role requires a Driver's License, at least 1 year of direct support experience, and completion of annual training.

A $1,000 signing bonus is offered, with benefits including 401(k) matching, dental, health, vision insurance, PTO, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Direct Support: 1 year required.
• I-DD: 1 year preferred.
• Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Provide companion support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in a community home setting.
• Ensure health, safety and welfare; follow regulations and agency policies.
• Assist with activities of daily living and accompany individuals to appointments and outings.
• Complete documentation and communicate concerns to the supervisor.
• Transport individuals under defined conditions and respond during crises as directed.

Job Description

• Duties: provide companion support to individuals for intellectually disabled adults in a community home setting. Complies with Chapter 6400 Regulations, the Department of Human Services standards, and Allegheny Community Home Care policies and procedures. Ensures the health, safety, and welfare of the individuals supported. Reports to Allegheny Community Home Care House Supervisor.
• Responsibilities:
• Supports the achievement of individual's personal outcomes.
• Accompanies individuals on recreational trips and medical appointments as house staff.
• Engages individuals living within the house with leisure activities such as arts, crafts, and games.
• Provides general assistance to the individuals in the home with implementing their activities of daily living.
• Completes documentation as it relates to their job responsibilities.
• Communicates and resolves individual concerns with the Allegheny Community Home Care Lead Supervisor
• Complies with instructions given by the supervisor in the event of a crisis situation.
• Serves as a model to the appropriate language, dress, and behavior.
• Receives 24 hours training annually, relevant to Human Services.
• Receive medication administration training and be allowed to transport individuals in the vehicle or agency vehicle under defined conditions.
• Assumes other responsibilities as required.
