Job summary

Family Works is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Oakland, CA. You will support individuals with developmental disabilities in daily activities, record progress, and coordinate with the Regional Center. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 pounds are required.

A Spanish-friendly environment is preferred, with a flexible schedule and mileage/cell phone reimbursements. You will report to the Regional Support Specialist and admin, ensuring client wellbeing and growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months+ experience with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
• Fluent in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and assist clients in Individual Service Plans (ISP).
• Manage activities to achieve short- and long-term goals of clients and dependents.
• Maintain accurate client records, including progress reports.
• Collaborate with the Regional Center on client matters.
• Transport clients to and from appointments and activities using personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).
• Report to Regional Support Specialist and admin.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, and 6 months+ experience working with persons with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities; or experience in the human services field
• Fluent in Spanish preferred

MUST HAVES:

• 21 years or older.
• Time management and scheduling.
• Valid driver's license with reliable personal vehicle to transport clients; must be able to pass a DMV background check.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds to assist clients with transfers to and from mobility equipment and vehicles
• Clear criminal record; a background check will be conducted upon hire.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to:)
