Job summary

Queens Centers for Progress is seeking Direct Support Professionals for our Residential programs in New York. You will provide safety and support, show respect for each individual's personality and strengths, and help them achieve goals through person-centered care.

Responsibilities include daily living support, transportation, personal care, and engaging activities. A NY driver's license is required; HS diploma or GED is needed. Benefits and a $500 sign-on bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher required.
• Ability to write daily entries about the individual's services.
• Prior human service experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

• Assist with personal hygiene needs.
• Perform housekeeping tasks as required.
• Teach independent living skills while making activities enjoyable.

Queens Centers for Progress, a human services agency, providing person-centered services for children and adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities is seeking Direct Support Professionals for our Residential programs.

• Engage with our individuals through patient conversation, instruction, and arts and crafts projects, and activities
• Transport individuals to day program, medical appointments, and community outings in agency vehicles as needed
• Assist with personal hygiene needs
• Perform various housekeeping tasks
• Overall, Direct Support Professionals teach our guys independent living skills and have fun while teaching them.

Schedule

Flexible schedules available with weekend opportunities.

Salary

$19.00 to $23.50 (based on experience).

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma/GED or higher
• A valid New York State drivers license for 3 years is required.
• The ability to write daily entries or notes about the individual's services is required.
• Prior work experience in a human service field working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
