Job summary

Community-Support-Services-For-the-Deaf,-Inc. in Maryland is seeking a Direct Support Professional (FT) fluent in American Sign Language to provide compassionate in-home and community-based support for Deaf and Deaf-Blind adults.

You will help with personal care, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and medication administration, follow an IP plan, and coordinate with a supervising team. Monday–Friday, 3pm–11pm, in-person work with overnight monitoring as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Relevant experience is a plus.
• Valid MD Driver's License with 2 points or less.
• Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).

Responsibilities

• Assist Deaf/Deaf-Blind adults with daily living tasks including personal care.
• Provide home-based support with cleaning, cooking, and laundry.
• Administer medications as required and per IP plan.
• Perform overnight monitoring and follow the IP plan as scheduled.
• Support inclusive, respectful communication and independence.

Who Is a Direct Support Professional?

A supportive, 'hands-on' person who assists Deaf and/or Deaf-Blind Adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. Assistance includes Home-based assistance with personal care, cleaning, cooking, laundry, and medication administration. Frequent overnight monitoring required and additional cleaning duties as assigned. Other responsibilities as identified in an annual Individual Plan (IP) meeting.

• Annual physical and annual flu vaccination required.
