Job summary

SOAR365 in the Greater Richmond area seeks a dedicated Direct Support Professional to assist adults with disabilities in center-based and community settings. In this full-time role, you will support daily routines, run skill-building activities, and help participants gain independence and meaningful connections.

You will work Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with no nights or weekends, joining a team committed to inclusion, dignity, and safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support, supervision, and skill-building assistance to participants during Adult Day Support activities.
  • Implement individualized training plans and support skill development in social interaction, personal hygiene, and motor coordination.
  • Accompany participants on community outings and provide transportation when assigned; maintain supplies and equipment and ensure timely documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, safety standards, HIPAA, and SOAR365's Human Rights plan.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

In this role, you will be responsible for providing daily support, supervision, and skill‑building assistance to participants during Adult Day Support activities and routines. Responsibilities include delivering purposeful, age‑appropriate activities; implementing individualized training plans; supporting skill development in areas such as social interaction, personal hygiene, and motor coordination; and encouraging participant choice and engagement. DSPs collaborate closely with team members, provide personal care as needed, accompany participants on community outings, and provide transportation when assigned. Additional duties include maintaining supplies and equipment, completing accurate and timely documentation, identifying program needs and solutions, attending required trainings and meetings, supporting volunteers and interns, and ensuring compliance with all agency policies, safety standards, HIPAA requirements, and SOAR365's Human Rights plan.

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED; one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Relevant college coursework, disability‑specific training, or medical training (such as a CNA license) may substitute for the preferred experience. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to implement individualized plans, and a commitment to positive behavioral supports are essential. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required for driving positions, along with successful completion of a SOAR365 driving test if applicable. All DSPs must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid and Therapeutic Options certifications and demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and alignment with SOAR365's core values.

Hours & Schedule
  • Typical schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
