Job summary

Ocean State Behavioral is seeking a Direct Support Professional to work evening shifts with the goal of fostering independence for a young client at home and in the community. The role requires visiting the client’s home multiple times weekly, providing structured daily living and safety coaching.

The ideal candidate is 19+ with a valid driver’s license, can produce detailed notes, and will undergo a DCYF clearance check.

Qualifications

• High school graduate aged 19 or older.
• Must have a valid driver's license and legal personal vehicle.
• Must pass a clean background check and DCYF clearance.
• Ability to take detailed and clinically accurate shift notes.

Responsibilities

• Visit a client’s home three to five days on weekday evenings for a 3-4 hour shift.
• Some cases may require a 3-4 hour shift on Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon.
• Help a young person learn daily living, safety, and social skills.
• Coach family members and caretakers to reinforce clinical strategies consistently.
• Document behavioral data, shift notes, and client observations.

Schedule: (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2:15 to 6:15 p.m.)

What You'll Be Doing:

• Visiting a client’s home three to five days a weekday evenings for a 3-4 hour shift.
• Some cases may require a 3-4 hour shift on Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon
• Helping a young person to learn necessary daily living, safety, and social skills (e.g. crossing the street, cleaning up after themselves, sharing with others, etc...)
• Coaching family members and caretakers to reinforce clinical strategies consistently
• Documenting behavioral data, shift notes, and client observations

Who We're Looking For:

• A high school graduate age 19 or older,
• With a valid driver's license, and legal personal vehicle,
• Capable of taking short but detailed and clinically accurate shift notes,
• With a calm, consistent, and patient personality

Candidate must provide a clean background check and permit the agency to run a DCYF clearance check with the state.
