Job summary

United Community Options of South Florida is seeking compassionate, dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to assist children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our residential group homes across Miami-Dade County.

You will provide direct care, support daily living activities, monitor progress, and collaborate with families, supervisors, and healthcare professionals to promote independence and community inclusion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in human services, healthcare, or caregiving preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Ability to pass required background screenings and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care and mobility.
• Encourage independence and participation in community activities.
• Support individuals during recreational, social, educational, and community outings.
• Maintain documentation including daily reports and program records.
• Provide transportation as needed and ensure a safe living environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, grooming, dressing, toileting, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and participation in community activities.
• Support individuals during recreational, social, educational, and community outings.
• Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs), behavior support plans, and other service plans.
• Monitor and document consumer progress, behaviors, health concerns, and daily activities.
• Assist with medication administration and health-related monitoring as trained and authorized.
• Complete required documentation, including daily reports, incident reports, and program records.
• Provide transportation to appointments, activities, and community events when required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.
• Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and emergency protocols.
• Collaborate effectively with supervisors, healthcare professionals, family members, and team members.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in human services, healthcare, behavioral health, education, caregiving, or developmental disabilities preferred.
• Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass required background screenings and drug testing.
• CPR and First Aid Certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to safely assist individuals with mobility, transfers, and daily living activities.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
