Job summary

Turning Point of Central California, Inc. seeks a Direct Service Professional to support residents in achieving treatment goals under the director's supervision. You will assist with care plans, document progress, and participate in daily living skills sessions.

Responsibilities include transporting residents to appointments, leading activities, and ensuring safety and compliance. A high school diploma with some college, 6 months of relevant experience, and valid license are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and some college units in a social service, healthcare, education, or similar field.
  • 6 months direct care experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must be at least 21 years old per California Health & Safety Code.
  • Ability to write progress reports and maintain treatment documentation.
  • Effective written and spoken English communication.
  • Able to follow written and oral directions and work with diverse groups.
  • Emergency first aid certification prior to working alone with residents.
  • Basic computer skills (Office 365, Teams, Zoom).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable insured transportation.
  • Pass pre-employment background check, physical, drug screen and TB test.

Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings and trainings including supervision and conferences.

  • Motivate residents to develop self-reliance in daily living.
  • Monitor residents' condition and report changes to the Program Director.

Our desire is to see individuals reach their full potential, and create lasting change that will stand the test of time.This job will expire after 10 days.JOB SUMMARYThe Direct Service Professional reports to the Program Director and provides direct care services specialized to assist residents of the program in achieving their treatment goals, under the direct supervision of the Program Director.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in the accomplishment of the treatment plan for residents, under the supervision of the Program Director.Maintain appropriate case recording documentation as per agency and contract guidelines including actions of resident behaviors and rule violations.Transport residents to doctors’ appointments and laboratories for testsConduct daily living skills sessions and re-socialization activity groups.Attend staff meetings as required, including weekly supervision meetings with the Program Director.Attend job-related conferences and participate in a variety of in-service trainings, seminars, and practicum.Participate in carrying out individual and group treatment programs for residents and encourage resident participation in treatment activities.Motivate residents to develop self-reliance in daily living.Observe resident’s physical condition and behavior, report significant changes to the Program Director.Responsible for ensuring staffing ratio is at a minimum by being able to work all shifts upon request.Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.Will drive on Agency business.Physical presence at the program is required.Respond to emergency health situations in appropriate manner as defined by emergency first aid training.ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTSHigh School diploma and some college units in a social service, healthcare, education, or similar course of study; ANDHave 6 months prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.Must meet the minimum age of 21 pursuant to California Health & Safety Code Section 1562.Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.Ability to write acceptable progress reports required for treatment documentation.Work effectively with diverse ethnic, religious, socio-economical, and professional groups.Competently provide direct services for Developmentally Disabled residents of the facility.Understand and apply principles and techniques involved in the care and treatment of individuals or groups of Developmentally Disabled residents.Recognize contraindications, side-effects, and signs of medication complications and report to the Program Director.Analyze potentially dangerous situations accurately and take effective action.Provide input to the Program Director and/or home behaviorist as relates to the treatment programs for the residents.Understand and follow written and oral directions.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Must be certified in emergency first aid prior to working alone with any resident.Basic computer skills in Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws.
