Job summary

Turning Point of Central California is seeking a Direct Service Professional to join the residential program in California. You will work under the Program Director to provide direct care and help residents achieve their treatment goals.

The role requires at least six months of relevant experience, valid driving license, and ability to pass background checks and health screens. Training in RBT and DSP Year 1/2 will be provided to support career growth.

Qualifications

  • Six months' prior direct care experience.
  • Must be 21+ years old under CA statute.
  • Written and spoken English proficiency.
  • Ability to write progress reports.
  • RBT training and certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Complete DSP Year 1 within 6 months and Year 2 within 1 year.
  • CPR/First Aid/Water Safety certifications within 7 days.
  • Ability to pass background check and health screening.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in treatment plan achievement under Program Director supervision.
  • Maintain case notes and documentation as required.
  • Transport residents to medical appointments and labs.
  • Lead daily living skills sessions and social activities.
  • Attend staff meetings and supervision sessions.
  • Participate in trainings and practicum.
  • Support residents in treatment activities and promote self-reliance.
  • Observe residents' condition and report changes to supervisor.
  • Respond to health emergencies per first aid training.

JOB SUMMARY

The Direct Service Professional reports to the Program Director and is responsible for providing direct care services specialized to assist residents of the program in achieving their treatment goals, under the direct supervision of the Program Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assist in the accomplishment of the treatment plan for residents, under the supervision of the Program Director.
  2. Maintain appropriate case recording documentation as per agency and contract guidelines including actions of resident misbehavior and rule violations.
  3. Transport patients to doctors' appointments and laboratories for tests.
  4. Conduct daily living skills sessions and socialization activity groups.
  5. Attend staff meetings as required, including weekly supervision meetings with the Program Director.
  6. Attend job-related conferences and also participate in a variety of in-service trainings, seminars, and practicum.
  7. Participate in carrying out individual and group treatment programs for residents and encourage resident participation in treatment activities.
  8. Motivate residents to develop self-reliance in daily living.
  9. Observe patient's physical condition and behavior, report significant changes to the Program Director.
  10. Respond to emergency health situations in appropriate manner as defined by emergency first aid training.
  11. Thinks and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  12. Physical presence at the program is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
  1. Have six months' prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  2. Must meet the minimum age of 21 pursuant to California Health & Safety Code Section 1562.
  3. Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  4. Ability to write acceptable progress reports required for treatment documentation.
  5. Complete RBT Training and certification within 90 days of employment.
  6. Complete DSP Year one within 6 months of employment and Year 2 within 1 year of employment.
  7. Complete and Maintain CPR/First Aid/Water Safety Certifications within 7 days of employment.
  8. Work effectively with diverse ethnic, religious, socio-economical, and professional groups.
  9. Competently provide direct services for Developmentally Disabled residents of the facility.
  10. Understand and apply principles and techniques involved in the care and treatment of individuals or groups of Developmentally Disabled clients.
  11. Recognize contraindications, side-effects, and signs of medication complications and report to the Program Director.
  12. Analyze potentially dangerous situations accurately and take effective action.
  13. Provide input to the Program Director and/or QBMP as it relates to the treatment programs for the residents.
  14. Understand and follow written and oral directions.
  15. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  16. Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  17. Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  18. Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  19. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and TB test.
