Job summary

The Direct Service Professional (DSP) at Lutheran Services Carolinas provides compassionate, person-centered support to residents at the Whittecar Group Home in Raleigh. You’ll assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and help participants achieve personal goals in a safe, supportive setting.

We offer a full-time schedule, a $1,000 sign-on bonus, $16.00 per hour with an additional $2 per hour for opting out of benefits, eligible benefits after 30 days, and opportunities for

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or other vulnerable populations preferred.
  • Human services experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision to individuals served.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, and housekeeping as needed.
  • Support individuals in achieving personal goals and increasing independence.
  • Promote community engagement and participation in recreational, educational, and social activities.
  • Assist with transportation to appointments, community activities, and other approved destinations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete reports in a timely manner.
  • Observe and report changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral conditions.
  • Follow all agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with medication administration as permitted by training and program requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with individuals, families, teammates, and community partners.
  • Attend required training and staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Direct Service Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals served by Lutheran Services Carolinas. This position assists individuals with daily living activities, promotes independence, supports individual goals, and helps create a safe and supportive environment that enhances quality of life. The DSP serves as an advocate, role model, and caregiver while supporting participants in community integration and personal development.

Education & Experience

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or other vulnerable populations preferred.

  • May require evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts based on program needs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting individuals with daily activities.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, or assist individuals using proper safety techniques.
  • Combination of residential, community, and program-based work environments.
