The Carlyle Group is seeking an Associate, Direct Lending within its Global Credit team in New York. The role supports underwriting, structuring, and managing a diverse portfolio of credit investments, with emphasis on sponsor-backed transactions and AI-enabled diligence.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years in direct lending or related areas, strong financial modeling skills, and a bachelor’s degree. Base salary is $150,000 with comprehensive benefits and incentive opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in finance/economics or related field preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in direct lending, leveraged finance, restructuring, credit investing, or M&A.
• Prior exposure to sponsor-backed transactions strongly preferred.
• Solid financial modeling and valuation skills.
• Exceptional analytical capabilities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support underwriting, structuring, and portfolio management of credit investments.
• Build financial models and cash flow projections; analyze downside scenarios.
• Prepare investment memoranda and materials for credit committee review.
• Participate in deal screening, structuring, and term sheet development.
• Support legal documentation and transaction execution processes.
• Perform ongoing portfolio monitoring including covenant compliance.
