Qualifications

  • Current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Pass the Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification.
  • Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.

Job description

This is an open and continuous posting for full-time and part-time positions on multiple shifts throughout the Taunton Area of the Southeast Region of DDS.

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks caring and compassionate applicants for the role of DIRECTCARE WORKER I who are committed to building meaningful relationships and providing outstanding care and service.

The Direct Care Worker role provides programmatic direct care services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is achieved by creating an environment that meets participants' needs in daily living and promotes skills necessary for community life.

Positions Available:

  • Provide support to individuals by assisting in developing and implementing habilitative, behavioral, and recreational programs in accordance with the Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives.
  • Coordinate with direct supervisor(s) to ensure successful implementation of ISP, appropriate methods, service coordination, and crisis intervention.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including household maintenance, self-care, hygiene, food shopping and preparation, budgeting, leisure activities, and social skills development.
  • Attend review meetings and accompany individuals to appointments; transport individuals to work, recreational activities, and other engagements as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and records; uphold individuals' human rights by complying with applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Ability to develop and maintain respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationships with individuals with disabilities.
  • Capacity to assist/lift individuals with physical disabilities or limited mobility.
  • Aptitude to read, transcribe, and comprehend English.

Agency Requirements :

  • Current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Pass the Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification.
  • Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid (FA) certifications after completing training.

Please Note :

DDS fills this entry-level position continuously as staff turnover and new programs develop. Many positions require working weekends with two days off midweek. Flexibility in work schedule is essential. This is a 24/7 staff position, and employees must be able to perform mandatory overtime when required.

This position is designated as an "EMERGENCY" position in the DDS Emergency Plan, requiring reporting during a declared state of emergency.

Employees are paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.
