Job Summary

An individual who, under supervision, provides assistance with nutritional and environmental support, personal hygiene, feeding, and dressing.

Organizational Relationship

Reports to the designated supervisor.

Risk of Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens

Category B: Limited exposure.

Qualifications

The candidate must have successfully completed one of the following:

• Demonstrated competency by passing a competency exam developed by the Agency or another entity meeting Pennsylvania regulatory requirements.
• A training program developed by the Agency that meets all Pennsylvania state requirements.
• A training program meeting the training standards by virtue of the Agency’s participation as a provider in a Medicaid Waiver or other publicly funded program providing home and community-based services.
• Another program identified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) by subsequent publication in the Pennsylvania Bulletin or on the DOH website.

Additional requirements include good hygiene, neat appearance, proficiency in English, current CPR certification, and passing a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Assist with personal services such as bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, nail care, skin care, positioning, elimination, eating, dressing, walking, toileting, and medication reminders.

Assist with homemaking tasks including meal planning and preparation, linen changes, laundry, light housekeeping, and grocery shopping.

Follow universal precautions, maintain confidentiality, and perform only specified functions per the service plan.

Administrative and Functional Expectations

Follow client rights, record activities, report incidents, attend training, maintain records, and cooperate with supervisors. Physical ability to carry up to 10 pounds upstairs, stoop, bend, and travel to client residences is required.
