Job summary

MercyFirst in Syosset, NY is seeking a Training Coordinator to oversee staff training coordination, tracking, documentation, and compliance with ORR agreements and agency policies. The role also maintains training records, manages data across systems, and supports audits and reporting.

AGENCY BACKGROUND:

MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human and social service agency that has been serving children and families in need since we were founded by the Sisters of Mercy/Hermanas de las Misericordia in 1894. Today our agency continues to address the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens and across Long Island through innovative treatments and life-changing interventions. We provide community-based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children. Each year, MercyFirst serves more than 3,000 children, teenagers and families overcome enormous obstacles, re-imagine their futures and develop their full potential.


PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

The START with Hope Residential program initiated in 2014 and provides various levels of services to UAC minors who have recently crossed the border or have been in the UAC network. The program supports UAC with medical, educational, social services and clinical supports while the minors seek reunification, and legal relief supports in the United States.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Training Coordinator oversees the coordination, tracking, documentation, and maintenance of staff training to ensure compliance with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Cooperative Agreement, agency policies, and regulatory requirements. This position maintains accurate training records, manages training data across multiple electronic systems, prepares compliance reports, supports audits, coordinates training logistics, and may facilitate or deliver staff training as program needs require.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Exceptional data entry skills with a demonstrated ability to accurately enter, update, and maintain large volumes of information while ensuring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to identify discrepancies in training records, reconcile data across multiple systems, and resolve inconsistencies in a timely manner.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic training records by entering, updating, and verifying employee training data across agency databases, Employee Management Systems (LMS), and other compliance tracking software.

  • Coordinate the assignments for mandatory pre-service and ongoing training completion.

  • Schedules training activities, and prepares compliance reports for leadership, audits, and monitoring visits.

  • Collaborates with program leadership and subject matter experts to coordinate training logistics, maintain training materials, evaluate participation, and promote a culture of continuous learning and regulatory compliance across the program.

  • This role ensures training compliance through tracking, documentation, and reporting, and may also facilitate or support select training sessions as program needs evolve.

Salary Range:

$53,000 - $54,870 per year
