Job summary

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a 14-week temporary assignment on the 7P-7A shift. This full-time role requires a strong bedside ICU background and the ability to work as part of a high‑performing team.

You will administer medications, monitor critically ill patients, and collaborate with physicians and families to maintain the highest standards of care.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of recent bedside RN ICU experience.
• Experience with vasopressors and sedation meds (levophed, phenylephrine, vasopressin, dopamine; fentanyl, propofol, precedex) and insulin drips.
• Virginia RN license; ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and admit patients and perform rounding checks.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Communicate with family members and coordinate care as part of a team.

REQUIREMENTS
MUST have AT LEAST 2 yrs of RECENT bedside RN experience in general ICU - required

• IF floated to IMCU must be able to efficiently and safely handle pt ratio of 1:4-6
• REQUIRED: Experience in use of vasopressors (levophed, phenylephrine, vasopressin, dopamine) as well as sedation meds like fentanyl, propofol, and precedex. Insulin drips are also common.
• Experience with TNK, strokes, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, sepsis, CRRT, general surgeries, DKA, SI , ETOH. and, STEMIs.

EDUCATION:

RB Degree: RN Diploma, ADN, BSN or MSN

CERTIFICATIONS and or LICENSURE:

RN License valid to work in the State of Virginia

ACLS, BLS, NIHSS REQUIRED

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
