Ellipsis is looking for a Direct Care Professional to join our team in Johnston, IA. You will support clients with daily routines, personal care, and medication needs, while teaching essential life skills and promoting independence.

This role emphasizes safety, respect, and client-centered planning within a home-like environment. You will document accurately, collaborate with families and case managers, and adapt support to each client’s goals and abilities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable driving requirements.
• Ability to complete required background checks and training.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support clients with daily routines, household responsibilities, personal care, and medication needs.
• Teach and reinforce skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping, transportation, and appointment management.
• Help clients participate in employment, education, recreation, relationships, and community activities.
• Follow each client’s individualized service plan while adapting support to their needs and abilities.
• Encourage clients to make informed choices, advocate for themselves, and become increasingly independent.
• Respond calmly and appropriately when clients are experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
• Maintain a safe, clean, respectful, and home-like environment.
• Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
• Communicate and collaborate with clients, families, case managers, coworkers, and other members of the support team.
