Job summary

Ability Beyond in New York is looking for a Direct Support Professional to support adults with intellectual, developmental, and behavioral health needs in residential and community settings. No experience required; paid training is provided, and full-time shifts, including weekends, are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to learn with no prior experience required; paid training is provided.
• Compassionate, dependable, and motivated to support others.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands on support with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and medication reminders as needed.
• Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as budgeting, communication, and meal planning.
• Provide transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community outings.
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities.
• Implement behavioral support strategies and use de escalation techniques when needed.
• Collaborate with nurses, behaviorists, nutritionists, and other clinical team members to provide well rounded care.
• Assist with goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress, and daily activities.
