Job summary

Devereux Arizona’s Brief Intervention Program (BIP) is a short-term residential treatment for youth ages 7 to 17, providing stabilization, therapeutic support and 24-hour supervision. The Direct Care Professionals (DCP) supervise and assist daily activities, support mental health, manage behaviors and implement treatment plans.

Positions require a 21+ age, HS diploma or GED, and six weeks of behavioral health experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or relevant field preferred.
  • Six (6) weeks of behavioral health work experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision and assist the day-to-day schedule for individuals.
  • Support mental health, manage behaviors and emotional needs; de-escalate crisis situations; implement treatment plans.
  • Document progress for daily, weekly, and monthly logs; attend weekly clinical supervision meetings.
  • Assist with enrichment activities (art, music, culinary arts, sports) and adult-transition prep.

Job description

Devereux Arizona’s Brief Intervention Program (BIP)

is a short-term, intensive residential treatment program designed for youth who require stabilization, therapeutic support and 24-hour supervision in a structured and secure environment. Serving youth, ages 7 to 17, the BIP provides a safe space for healing and skill-building. The program is designed for individuals experiencing significant challenges in social, emotional, psychiatric and/or psychological functioning, and who may not have responded to previous community-based services. Our goal is to work closely with families and treatment teams to assess, stabilize and prepare youth for a successful return to home, foster care or another community-based setting – as quickly and safely as possible.

Direct Care Professionals (DCP)

provide direct supervision and assist the day-to-day schedule for individuals. Direct support duties include:

  • Helping individuals with their mental health, managing behaviors and emotional needs, de-escalating crisis situations, treatment plan implementation
  • Personal care (bathing, dressing), medication management, transport, and fostering social skills
  • Documenting progress for daily, weekly, and monthly logs, adhering to the activity schedule, and attending weekly clinical supervision meetings
  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of enrichment activities such as art projects, music groups, culinary arts, various athletics (basketball, soccer, swimming), and adult-transition prep!
Additional Details
  • Pay Range: $18/hr - $19.80/hr
  • Various Scheduling Options; ability to work afternoons/nights and weekends (schedules are subject to change)

Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Ability to attend full time new hire orientation Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm (paid)
  • Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results
  • Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License & pass DMV 36-month history check
  • Current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card with no restrictions (or eligibility to obtain with no restrictions). Arizona Revised Statutes Notice: If a person's employment record contains a six-month or longer time frame during which the person was not employed by any employer, a completed application with a new set of fingerprints shall be submitted to the department of public safety.
