Position Summary

Responsible for the development and implementation of Specialized Therapeutic Services for the hospital. Provides supervision to Recreation Therapists, Music Therapists, Activity Specialists, Wellness Coordinator. Ensures recreational activities enhance patient care by improving the social, physical, and cognitive functional behavior of patients.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Music Therapist Board Certified (MTBC), and Current High and Low Elements Facilitator Certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Program and facilitate Specialized Therapeutic Services on acute and partial programs.
  • Supervise Recreation Therapists, Music Therapists, Activity Specialists, and Lifeguards as needed.
  • Document provision of services including assessments, Master Treatment Plans, and daily Progress Notes. Co-sign documents prepared by Activity Specialists.
  • Develop and monitor QPI of department on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain inventory, supply inventory, and manage purchasing of equipment and supplies.
  • Schedule use of recreational facilities throughout the hospital.
  • Manage all responsibilities for the Challenge Course.
  • Supervise Special Events provided by the STS department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by this position.
