The Director of Product Transformation is accountable for shaping the behaviors, processes, and practices that enable Thrivent to design, build and successfully launch new solutions for our customers. This leader will define, establish, teach, and lead product, agile, and dev ops techniques across Thrivent to help teams realize their full potential by coaching and enabling the organization to deliver outstanding product as fast as possible.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountabilities of Director role
- Responsible for the strategic product transformation with sharp focus on increasing speed to value for the organization
- Establish Product Transformation Roadmap incorporating Product Operating Model, Agile, DevOps, Talent, and Culture. Timeline to include pilot to full scale
- Attract talent to build product transformation team and provide leadership to continuously improve roadmap to successfully scale product practices. This will require ability to respond to change in organizational priorities
- Own the stakeholder and change management strategy for the product transformation. This will require collaboration with leadership across all Thrivent business units and functional areas
- Partner with appropriate leaders to establish talent development journeys from current state to future state roles
- Partner with appropriate leaders and portfolio team to define and develop the transition for project funding to product funding and corresponding product portfolio practices
- Engage stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure there is alignment between the organization’s mission, vision, goals and objectives of technology initiatives including the appropriate level of communication, visibility, and transparency of that alignment with the development teams
- Providing ongoing updates to leadership on the progress of the product transformation and establish avenues to provide ongoing testimonials / showcase success stories generated by product teams
- Embed methods that drive continuous improvement to Thrivent Product Operating model
- Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.

- Establish and Continuously Improve Product Transformation Roadmap and provide oversight / coordinate across all related workstreams
- Establish and Maintain leader communication toolkits
- Establish Thrivent Product Definitions, taxonomy and define future state roles and responsibilities
- Refresh and maintain Agile playbook – minimal standards and tools
- Establish and maintain Product Management playbook – minimal standards and tools
- Establish and maintain DevOps playbook – minimal standards and tools (Accountable not Responsible)
- Establish and maintain Product Team execution tenets – minimal standards related to resourcing, ways for working
- Establish and support Communities of Practice to enable the sharing of best practices and continuous improvement - Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Engineering Managers / DevOps
- Develop Training opportunities tailored to various target stakeholder groups – ELT, Senior Management, Thrivent associates, Product Teams
- Develop Talent Learning Paths to ready Thrivent leadership and associates for future state – on-line learning paths, micro-assignments, certifications
- Product Team formation consulting and Product Team activation (from orientation through sprint Zero)
- Product team coaching and health / maturity monitoring resulting in removal of delivery friction points and increased speed to value
- Make visible team successes / outcomes to Thrivent leadership community
- Team specific problem solving
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance or equivalent field
- 10+ years of experience in Technology related field including 5+ years prior leadership experience
- Experience deploying Product Management practices in a medium to large organization
- Experience deploying Agile methodologies involving in a medium to large organization
- Experience deploying IT Governance tool and practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and thought leadership skills
- Experience defining a strategy and then driving execution against that strategy
Preferred Experience:
- Experience leading software delivery and Continuous Improvement activities within a team or organization
- Experience with product management
- Experience leading work through Agile Delivery techniques
- Financial services industry experience

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $158,271.00 - $214,132.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
