Job summary

Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV, seeks a Telemetry Director RN to provide 24-hour administrative leadership for nursing in Telemetry units. You will supervise staff, develop plans for performance improvement, and ensure regulatory compliance while coordinating with physicians and hospital administration to meet patient needs.

Qualifications include an active RN license, BLS/ACLS on hire, and preferably PCCN/CCRN or ANCC certification, with BSN required and MSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Tele RN PCCN/CCRN or ANCC certification preferred.
• Minimum of two years supervisory/management experience.
• Minimum of three years clinical experience in an acute care setting.
• BSN required; MSN preferred.
• PALS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assumes 24-hour administrative oversight for Telemetry nursing services.
• Plans, develops, implements and evaluates nursing delivery and performance improvement activities.
• Maintains 24-hour accountability for the department and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to the unit and optimizes staffing and time management.
• Communicates with staff, physicians and administration in writing and verbally about nursing issues and hospital policies.
• Assumes house supervisory responsibilities, including responding to codes and proper documentation.
• Oversees care for adolescent, adult and older adult patients.

Responsibilities

The Director of Telemetry is a Registered Nurse who assumes 24-hour administrative responsibility for the management of all nursing service functions within Telemetry unit(s). Supervises, assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of patient care. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current regulations. Assumes 24-hour accountability for the departments. Supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to the unit and effectively utilizes nursing personnel, time responsibilities for the unit and is directly accountable to the CNO or Administrator. Consults and communicates with staff, physicians and administration both written and verbally on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Assumes house supervisory responsibilities as assigned, including responding to codes throughout the hospital, assessing and charting, and following through with appropriate documentation. Oversees the provision of patient care for adolescent, adult and older adult patients.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state registered nurse license.
2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
4. Tele RN (PCCN) or (CCRN) or Medical Surgical Certified (ANCC) certificate(s) upon hire, preferred.
5. A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
6. Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting preferred.
7. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. MSN preferred.
