Overview

The Michaels Organization is a national leader in residential real estate offering full-service capabilities in development, property management, construction, and investment. At Michaels, our teammates strive to fulfill our promise of creating communities that lift lives – ones that jumpstart housing, education, civic engagement, and neighborhood prosperity. With this passion at the forefront of our business, Michaels teammates can be proud to be a part of the extraordinary, every day.

The Director of Business Systems & Solutions is responsible for the delivery, optimization, performance, and support of the technology systems that directly enable Michaels Management's property operations, maintenance, marketing, accounting, and resident experience.

This role leads core property technology systems including Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, EliseAI as well as related applications that support maintenance, marketing, analytics, and resident engagement. The Director ensures these systems are stable, efficient, and aligned with The Michaels Organization’s mission of Lifting Lives and commitment to operational excellence. You will translate strategic priorities into discipline execution across the platforms, implementation readiness, reporting, and ongoing operational optimization.

Reporting to the SVP, Business Transformation and Solutions, the Director translates Michaels Management’s transformation strategy into an executable platform roadmap and is accountable for delivering it. The Director partners with Operations, Accounting, and IT leadership to streamline workflows, strengthen integrations, and deliver scalable solutions that improve teammate and resident experiences across a large national portfolio spanning all four operating business lines: multifamily, affordable, student, and military portfolios.

Responsibilities
  1. Support the strategic planning, roadmap execution and organizational change initiatives for business systems that enable property operations, including Yardi Voyager, RealPage OneSite, Entrata, Elise AI, and related platforms sequenced against the strategy and standards.
  2. Partner with leaders across Operations, Accounting, Human Resources, and Facilities to align system capabilities with business needs and to recommend priorities for the business.
  3. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure property systems integrate effectively with enterprise applications (e.g., SuccessFactors, Salesforce).
  4. Serve as a senior advisor and subject matter expert on property technology solutions and develop the business cases, total cost of ownership analysis, and recommendations that support platform and investment decisions.
  5. Oversee configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and user support for assigned property technology systems and manage platform performance against defined service levels.
  6. Manage integrations and data exchanges between property technology and enterprise platforms in collaboration with IT infrastructure teams and vendors.
  7. Enforce data integrity, access control, and change management governance for all assigned systems within the governance framework established for the department.
  8. Partner with Accounting to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and process alignment within operational systems.
  9. Lead technology projects, from requirements gathering and documentation through testing, training, and implementations, including conversions, platform transitions and post-implementation support.
  10. Develop and partner on the delivery of training programs to ensure users are equipped to effectively use business systems and new features, and measure adoption against targets.
  11. Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resource coordination and spend across departments. Communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders, and report platform performance, data quality, and benefit realization to the SVP on a recurring cadence.
  12. Support organizational change management, and training efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new tools, business systems, new processes and new features.
  13. Supervise and develop the Business Solutions team, setting clear goals and providing coaching, feedback, and professional development.
  14. Holds accountability for delivery of the business systems portfolio against scope, schedule, cost, and committed business outcomes.
  15. Foster a collaborative, service-oriented environment focused on problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  16. Serve as the operational systems lead for portfolio growth and change events, including acquisitions, dispositions, new development lease-ups, and management transitions, covering due diligence, onboarding, data conversion, and platform standardization.
  17. Establish and maintain service levels and key performance indicators for the platform portfolio, including system availability, support responsiveness, user satisfaction, and report performance, trends, and remediation plans on a recurrent cadence.
  18. Manage vendor performance across platforms, including product evaluation, service level monitoring, issue escalation, and renewal analysis, and support negotiations; manage consultants and implementation partners against defined statements of work.
