Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Entomology or related discipline; postdoctoral experience preferred.

• Proven track record of publishing original research in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding and articulate scientific relevance to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes original collections-based systematic research resulting in peer-reviewed publications.
• Leads growth and mobilization of the dipteran collection, collaborating with the Collection Manager and Chair.
• Contributes to Project BEACON, including digitization, sequencing, and digital integration of type and California specimens.
• Trains and mentors the next generation of scientists, including students and postdocs.
• Engages diverse audiences through exhibitions, public programs, and outreach.
