UMD Dining Services provides diverse and high-quality dining options across campus, including Superior Dining, an all-you-care-to-eat residential dining center, and a Food Court with five concepts: Subs & Wraps, Burgers, Pizza, Burritos, and Grab & Go. We also operate Northern Shores Coffee Shop, two dining kiosks, a full-service restaurant, and catering services for campus events. Our focus is on providing diverse food options, sustainability, and quality service to the campus community.
Job Duties (100%)
- Ensure a high-quality dining experience by maintaining standards in food quality, sanitation, and service.
- Coordinate daily staffing for high-volume, complex operations.
- Oversee guest experience, coaching, and training.
- Observe and report guest trends to improve team performance.
- Manage inventory levels and product orders accurately and timely.
- Train and mentor team members to meet objectives and foster skill development.
- Refine processes and operational efficiencies to enhance guest experience.
- Implement performance management practices and address issues to maintain accountability.
- Communicate effectively with team and management at all levels.
- Prioritize safety by upholding safety protocols and fostering a supportive work environment.
Note: This position is categorized as an essential employee role and may be required to report to work during reduced or closed operations, such as during inclement weather or power outages.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS plus at least four years of experience or a combination of education and experience totaling at least 8 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years in supervisory or management roles related to food service or guest experience.
- Proficient in food management software (ordering and inventory management).
- Proficient in Google Suite (docs, sheets).
Preferred Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with accurate record keeping.
- Ability to multitask, organize, plan, and prioritize effectively.
- Creative and critical thinking skills.
- Comfortable coaching team members and engaging with guests.
