Position Summary
Our Manager-In-Training (MIT) program offers a 20-week interactive training experience, combining hands-on and computer-based learning to prepare you for managerial responsibilities, including:
- General Training: Learn roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher, and operate industrial kitchen equipment.
- Leadership Development: Lead small teams in food prep, service, and cleanup.
- Policies & Procedures: Ensure food quality, safety, inventory, and customer service standards.
- Reporting: Maintain records on income, expenses, supplies, personnel, and equipment.
- Training & Quality Control: Oversee staff training, quality assurance, and perform essential job functions.
- Leadership: Manage payroll, staffing, coaching, purchasing, inventory, and budgeting.
- Communication: Convey directives effectively to staff from various stakeholders.
- Safety: Use PPE, handle cleaning solutions safely, report issues promptly, and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Punctuality: Maintain consistent attendance and respond promptly to communications.
- Customer & Resident Experience: Provide courteous, respectful, and positive interactions.
Qualifications
- Positive attitude, ability to follow instructions, perform routine tasks.
- Leadership skills post-training, with a focus on safety.
- Preferred associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality.
- Training in foodservice management and nutrition; Food Protection Manager certification within 14 days.
- Certification as a Dietary Manager or equivalent as per law.
- Achieve Food Service Manager and Long-Term Care Food Service certifications within 60 days.
- Experience in food production/service, nutrition, and supervision preferred.
- Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and reporting.
- Ability to complete sanitation and safety courses if required.
- Reliable attendance, adherence to COVID-19 policies, physical ability to perform job duties.
- Reside within the service area.
