Job summary

Brookdale Senior Living is seeking a Dining Services Manager (Finance) to lead the dining operations across one or more locations. The role requires ensuring high standards of food safety, menu planning, and cost control.

The incumbent will supervise staff, coordinate with residents and staff, and manage budgets while delivering nutritious meals in alignment with Brookdale's standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two to four years experience in commercial kitchen, operation and line cooking, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current ServSafe Certification required. State food service certification required, if applicable. ACF Certified Sous Chef (CSC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies guidelines to manage the dining services department across one or more locations.
• Develops and enforces standards for organization and supervision of dining services.
• Plans menus and controls food costs; determines food quantities.
• Oversees food preparation and cooking per company procedures.
• Performs frequent inspections of work, storage, and serving areas for food-safety compliance.
• Maintains inventory and staff schedules; prepares cleaning schedule and production worksheets.
• Trains new employees and delegates authority to dining services staff.
• Develops and directs cost-control systems and submits department budgets.
• Provides nutrition education and counseling for residents; supports dining services education.

Base pay in range will be determined by applicant's skills and experience. Temporary associates are not benefits eligible but may participate in the company's 401(k) program.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Two to four years experience in commercial kitchen, operation and line cooking, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements

Current ServSafe Certification required. State food service certification required, if applicable. ACF Certified Sous Chef (CSC) preferred.

Applies existing guidelines and procedures to make varied decisions within a department. Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness or a combination of these.

Knowledge and Skills

Possesses extensive knowledge of a distinct skill or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment. Has working knowledge of a functional discipline. Familiarity with Microsoft software preferred. Basic typing skills are essential. A thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitation, culinary nutrition, and supervisory management is required.

• Provides nutrition education and counseling for residents; presents dining services education program to dining services and other staff as needed.
• Ensures safe work procedures are developed and followed, to include those relating to employee injuries, prevention, and infection control.
• Ensures a continuous quality improvement program is in place and appropriate follow-up occurs.
