Position Overview

As a Dining Services Cook at the Fairview Skilled Nursing Campus, you’ll be part of a team of nurses, CNAs, and senior support staff committed to helping seniors and families in Fairview. You will directly support your community in Oscoda County by providing essential services to seniors. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of cooking experience (preferred). Knowledge of special diets, food safety, and HACCP is helpful.

Responsibilities include:

  • Completing duties within time constraints
  • Being courteous and respectful to residents and co-workers
  • Serving as supervisor in charge of the kitchen when the DSD or dietary manager is not on duty
  • Reviewing menus and spreadsheets to determine food preparation needs
  • Preparing meals according to recipes and HACCP procedures
  • Preparing therapeutic and modified texture diets
  • Preparing alternate food options like sandwiches and soups
  • Reviewing menus and prep work for upcoming days
  • Loading food into steam tables and cleaning afterward
  • Washing, rinsing, and sanitizing pots and pans
  • Maintaining a clean work area
