Job summary

Sapphire Nursing and Rehab at Goshen is seeking part-time Dining Services Aides to join our culinary staff and provide timely service to meet residents' needs. Our Dietary Aides perform a variety of food service functions in a long-term skilled nursing facility, delivering meals with care and respect.

Shifts available: 11:30am-8pm and 4pm-8pm. Qualifications include ServSafe certification (or obtainable within 30 days), knowledge of dietary requirements, dependability, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Experience in a nursing care facility or similar service environment preferred.
• Must have ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or obtain within 30 days.
• Knowledge of state/federal long-term care dietary requirements.
• Punctual, dependable and able to follow written and oral directions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Handle food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures.
• Observe proper food handling and set up food for tray line or dining rooms.
• Deliver and retrieve food carts to/from client areas.
• Set up trays for meals and work tray line.
• Process soiled trays, dishes and utensils; wash pots and pans as needed.
• Assist in serving food and prepare snacks/beverages between meals.
• Prepare nutritional supplements and tube feeding products and deliver to patient areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout work areas.
• Perform daily or scheduled cleaning; scrub/mop floors and sanitize equipment.
• Participate in in-services and other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.

Responsibilities:

• Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures.
• Observes proper food handling techniques. Ensures proper setup of food for tray line and/or dining rooms.
• Delivers and retrieves food carts to and from clientsarea.
• Sets up trays for meals/works tray line position.
• Processes soiled trays, dishes and utensils from carts through dishwasher.
• Assists in the serving of food.
• Prepares snacks and beverages from between-meal service to patients.
• Prepares nutritional supplements and tube feeding products and delivers to customer areas.
• Washes pots, pans and other equipment as necessary.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation through entire work areas.
• Performs daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures; Scrubs and mops floors, cleans and sanitizes equipment.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the Food Service Director. Participates in all in-services and activities as required.

• Maintains the confidentiality of all protected health information whether electronic, written, or oral exposed to either during the course of assigned duties or as a result of an incidental disclosure.
• Participates in all in-service activities.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a nursing care facility or other previous service experience preferred.
• Must possess a ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or will obtain within 30 days after employment.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to long-term care dietary requirements.
• Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Ability to work independently.
• Possess the ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families, and visitors.
