Job summary

The Dining Room Supervisor at Sagewood – Independent Living in Phoenix, AZ is a full-time role overseeing dining room operations and ensuring courteous, efficient service of nutritious meals. The position requires strong front-of-house leadership and a minimum two years supervisory experience in senior living, restaurant, hotel, or club settings.

Shifts run days, 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, with pay ranging from $20 to $25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years supervisory experience in front-of-house operations in a senior living community, restaurant, hotel, or club setting.
• Ability to communicate with residents, families, visitors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff education for dining room personnel per education plan and provide on-the-job training.
• Develop work assignments and spot-check staff performance to meet standards.
• Resolve resident and staff issues and escalate to Directors when needed.
• Initiate maintenance requests to keep dining areas in good working order.
• Supervise hands-on tasks and ensure timely completion of side work.
• Maintain staffing information including resident preferences and service history.
• Support team to ensure smooth shift execution and service flow.
• Attend pre-shifts and train staff on service procedures.
• Mentor new staff on dining room service and procedures.
• Communicate challenges with front and back of house staff to Food & Beverage Manager.
• Ensure side work is completed properly and promptly.
• Assist with ordering necessary products, including alcohol and market items.
• Assist with programming, reporting, and adjustments in Full Count.

Who you are:

• A minimum of two years supervisory experience in “front of the house operations” in a senior living community, restaurant, hotel, or club or equivalent experience.
• Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
• Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests.

General Summary:

The Dining Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing food service activities and providing the level of supervision necessary to ensure the courteous and efficient service of quality and nutritious foods.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Assists in assuring staff education is provided to dining room/restaurant personnel in accordance with the staff education plan plus provides on the job training for staff.

2. Developing work assignments for staff assigning specific jobs and spot-checking work to ensure standards are met.

3. Acts as problem resolution for resident and staff issues as they arise and notifies Directors.

4. Initiates maintenance requests to keep restaurants in good working order.

5. Initiates and supervises the completion of hands-on assignments as assigned.

6. Maintains individual information concerning staffing pattern, resident likes, dislikes and front of house service.

7. Works directly in support of team and ensures that the shift runs smoothly by participating in all job activity.

8. Attends pre-shifts and instructs staff.

9. Works with new staff to teach service skills and how to handle service in the dining room/restaurant.

10. Contacts the Food & Beverage Manager about challenges with front and back of house staff.

11. Makes sure that all side work is done properly and in a timely manner.

12. Assists with ordering for necessary products for the department including alcohol and market items.

13. Assists with programming, reporting and adjustments on Full Count.
