Job summary

Wingate Living in Needham is seeking a Dining Room Server to support the Dining Department under the Executive Chef. The role includes performing defined work and cleaning routines, and preparing the dining room for residents.

The position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) with preferred experience, and the ability to read, understand and follow directions. Flexibility for hours, including weekends, is needed to meet resident needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Executive Chef.
• Follow cleaning duties as scheduled and assist in cleaning dining room areas after meals and events.
• Set up the dining room and serve residents as needed.
• Follow reporting procedures for supply/equipment needs and safety concerns.
• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Attend in-service educational programs.
• Follow safety and infection control procedures and regulations.
• Perform duties efficiently to complete tasks within allotted time.
• Adhere to policy, procedures and standards of conduct.
• Understand fire and disaster plans and participate in drills.
• Report violations of policy and procedures to management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Purpose:

The Dining Room Server performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dining Department and is accountable to the Executive Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform defined work routines using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Executive Chef.
• Follow cleaning duties as scheduled. Required to assist in cleaning work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events, sweep floor at the end of shift.
• Set up the dining room and serving residents per established standards. May be required to prepare and serve coffee, tea, juice, etc.
• Follow reporting procedures for the following:
  • Supply or equipment needs.
  • Any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair.
  • Any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Any conditions conductive to breeding insects, rodents, or other vermin.
• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Attend in-service educational programs.
• Follow defined safety codes and infection control procedures. Assures work is performed in accordance with all federal, state, and facility regulations regarding sanitation and infection control.
• Required to perform duties efficiently in order to accomplish tasks in allotted time.
• Assures personal compliances to all state and federal regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials, and fire safety.
• Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care.
• Actively supports Wingate's commitment to providing "5 Star" service on all quality objectives with an emphasis on continual improvement and excellent customer service.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
• Understand facility's fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
• Reports to the appropriate managers any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
