Job summary

MorningStar Senior Living in Lone Tree, CO, is seeking a Dining Room Manager to lead and supervise dining services for our residents. This full-time role requires hands-on supervision, staff training, and adherence to high sanitary standards, while delivering compassionate, high-quality meals in a 5-day, on-call schedule.

You'll collaborate with the Executive Chef and Director, manage labor costs, coordinate functions, and ensure resident satisfaction through attentive service and menu planning

Qualifications

• Dietary management and supervision in health care or senior living settings.

• Minimum high school diploma; 3+ years experience in senior living preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

Provide service of high-quality meals; organize, supervise, and train dining services employees; provide a sanitary and infection free environment. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal state regulations and established company policies and procedures .

• Supervise food service and assist as necessary.
• Be present in dining rooms for full meal service.
• Assist/Coordinate special functions and corporate meeting food service.

• Oversight of bistro areas – food presentation, cleanliness, supplies.
• Ensure that all supplies required are ordered; such as tablecloths, napkins, silverware, and other necessary items for the dining rooms.
• Ensure maintenance of beverage equipment in dining rooms and bistros.
• Maintain control of labor costs.
• Visit residents and assist in gathering information on food preferences.
• Maintain records, such as meal census, diets served, and weekly staffing patterns.
• Hire, provide orientation and training, evaluate, and supervise dietary department employees within a specific budget.
• Ensure that wait staff know what the specials of the day are and how they are prepared.
• Review resident diet information and care plans, and discuss with resident, family, nursing staff, and consultant dietician as necessary to make appropriate changes.
• Supervise cleaning procedures to ensure safe and sanitary conditions are maintained within the food service department, including kitchen, dining room, and bistros.
• Work with other departments within the building.
• Establish practice of serving hot food hot and cold food cold.
• Instruct new residents concerning when meals are to be served, when coffee will be available, etc.
• Participate in the safety meeting which also includes infection control and safety committee functions.
• Cover shifts as necessary when short of staff or employees call in.
• Perform other duties as specified by the Executive Chef or Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

• License/Certification: Dietician, ADA, Diet Technician, chef, and/or dietary manager - meeting current requirements established by the state regulatory agency.
• Education: Minimum high school diploma.
• Experience : Previous experience in the dietary department of a health care facility or restaurant preferred.
• Job Knowledge : Ability to read, write, and use mathematics and units of measurement, knowledge of menus, recipes, food purchasing, preparation, and storage. Ability to supervise and manage, knowledge of community policies and procedures and job descriptions.
• Standards: Knowledge of and ability to meet regulations of ADA, state, infection and control, health department, and OSHA.
• Industry Experience: Minimum three years’ experience in senior living preferred and a passion to work with seniors. Previous experience with managing an Assisted Living community preferred.
