Job summary

Cascadia Senior Living is seeking a Dining Aide to provide prompt, friendly service to residents during meals and related duties. You will read orders, assemble trays, and relay requests to the kitchen while maintaining a clean dining area and assisting residents as needed.

Ideal candidates are reliable, able to work flexible shifts including weekends, prepared to follow health and safety guidelines, and committed to supporting a vibrant senior living community.

Qualifications

  • Must read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must maintain current food handler’s card and health requirements.
  • Must pass criminal background and fingerprint checks.

Responsibilities

  • Read production orders on coded menu cards and prepare tray items.
  • Place food servings according to diet lists on the menu card.
  • Relay orders to the kitchen and serve courses from service bars.
  • Observe diners, respond to requests, and ensure meal completion.
  • Prepare utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays.
  • Clear and reset counters and tables after each course.
  • Maintain assigned station and assist residents to dining area as needed.
  • Washes dishes and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings; stay current on tasks.

Position Summary

The Dining Aide helps create a joyful and vibrant community by providing prompt and excellent service to residents when serving meals and performing other duties.

Essential Job Functions
  • Is prompt and reliable in coming to work.
  • Reads production orders on coded menu cards on trays to determine items to place on tray.
  • Apportions and places food servings on plates and trays according to diet list on menu card.
  • Relays orders to the kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
  • Observes diners to anticipate needs, respond to any additional request(s) and to determine when a meal has been completed.
  • Prepares items such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays.
  • Places servings in blender to make foods soft for liquid diets.
  • Records amount and types of special food items served to residents.
  • Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course.
  • Maintains assigned station, including table pieces and chairs.
  • Assists residents to dining area if required.
  • Delivers prompt and courteous service.
  • Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings. Stays Current on all system assigned tasks and duties.
  • Washes and puts away dishes as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications & Skills
  • Basic knowledge of various kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Maintains current food handler’s card required.
  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
  • Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Relates positively and communicates appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
  • Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Pass a criminal background check and fingerprint check.
  • Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision)
