Job summary

Good Shepherd Nursing Home Lc in Wheeling, WV is seeking a full-time dietary aide to support daily meal service and kitchen operations. You will prepare plates, assist with dining room service, and keep the dining area and pantry clean according to procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid West Virginia Food Handler’s Card. Weekend and holiday work may be required, with benefits including health, dental, and life insurance plus a 401(k).

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of the dining area and pantry kitchen by following a daily cleaning checklist.
• Restock all items needed to serve the resident’s meal requests.
• Serve lunch and dinner within the designated meal time frames.
• Record all food temperatures, cooler, and dish machine temperatures daily.
• Sweep and mop the entire dining area, while doing all the dishes within a timely manner.
• Assist other employees with the care of the residents in the dining room.
• Assist the evening supervisor in the main kitchen when work is finished and/or when dining services has been cancelled for that shift.
• Perform duties directed by the Dietary Manager.
• Adhere to all sanitation, proper hygiene, and health standards at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, LC.
• Dresses in a clean manner, following the proper dress code.

Summary of the Position

Performs a variety of dietary duties pertaining to the daily operation of preparing plates, servicing meal time, and cleaning the resident’s dining room and pantry kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Mental/Physical Requirements

• Must be able to read and clearly understand resident’s meal tickets and all written instructions. Prolonged standing is around 75% of the shift. Must be able to lift around 25-50 lbs.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime if needed.

Working Conditions

Must be able to work under conditions of sudden changes in temperature when entering freezer/refrigerator areas in the main kitchen. Subject to burns from hot food, utensils, steam. Subject to buts from knives and the possibility of injury from falls on slippery floors.
