Job description

Overview

Assists patients with selecting food items from a daily and alternate menu that fit their diet orders and preferences. Reviews patient menus for accuracy, delivers food trays and snacks, and records fluid intake and percentage eaten after meals. Passes snacks and provides floor stock to unit pantries.

Responsibilities

Manages the patient menu process

• Achieves 95% accuracy on menu audits per diet order and departmental policies
• Submits menus on time
• Conducts 100% face-to-face visits with patients and/or families, verified by random audits
• Attends meetings and reviews minutes to stay informed
• Completes 6-8 hours of departmental education as per HRD guidelines

Delivers and collects patient food trays according to departmental policies

• Delivers trays to patients' bedsides as scheduled
• Delivers nourishments or arranges for patient receipt
• Documents 100% of fluid and calorie intake on patient records
• Delivers late trays or special requests as needed

Maintains unit kitchens, floor stock, and refrigerators

• Inventories and distributes floor stock daily
• Rotates stock and maintains cleanliness of refrigerators, counters, and drawers
• Records refrigerator temperatures daily and submits documentation for Quality Improvement
• Ensures a safe, clean, and sanitary environment using appropriate protective gear and cleaning materials

Manages information in the office

• Updates manual kardexes with changes from orders and patient requests
• Counts and documents all food items, including late additions and changes
• Follows daily write-in procedures

Compensation and Benefits
