MyMichigan Health is seeking a Food Service Worker to prepare and distribute meals for patients, employees and visitors. You will deliver trays to patient rooms, assist with meal preparation, and follow safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities include maintaining sanitation, keeping records, and supporting dietary services with routine tasks as required.
Performs a variety of duties in the preparation and distribution of food for patients, employees, and visitors.
(50%) Technical. Delivers between-meal food trays and nourishments to patient rooms. Prepares or assists in food preparation for all meals, nourishments and special functions. Follows procedures for preparation, storage, proper temperatures, portion sizes, equipment usage, and timing and delivery. Interacts with patients, staff and family members in order to facilitate proper menu selections and/or other adjustments to menus per established policy. Reports to supervision adjustments to standard procedure for accomplishing work tasks.
(50%) Sanitation and Safety. Maintains assigned work area and equipment in clean and orderly conditions. Sanitizes all equipment and work area according to procedure after each use. Follows all M.D.P.H. and J.C.A.H.O. standards on sanitation and hygiene. Competent in safe and effective use of kitchen equipment that applies to job assignments.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs equipment preventative maintenance programs.
Maintains record keeping, inventories and equipment P-M records, daily activity logs.
Uses necessary tools, machines and equipment pertinent to work performed.
Performs other duties as required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to conditions of heat and cold.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to stand for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
