Dining Ambassador/Dietary Aide - 1st shift 7a-3p

JOB TITLE: Dining Ambassador / Dietary Aide

REPORTS TO: Sr. Food Service Director

HOURS: 7a-3p with alternating weekends

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing a variety of duties in the Dietary Department to ensure the area is kept clean and all services are accomplished in a customer-friendly environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Making tea and coffee, cleaning coffee machines in healthcare
  • Working on tray line, setting up trays with utensils, napkins, condiments, reading and calling out diet cards, some bending and lifting up to 10 pounds
  • Placing plates, desserts, and drinks on trays and then on carts; some bending required
  • Cleaning area, putting away milk, juice, empty tea urns, and cleaning
  • Retrieving trays and trash from the floor, washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, and lifting trash cans
  • Therapeutic Diet Expertise: Knowledge of therapeutic diets, modified textures, and special dietary requirements. Ensure all meals are prepared and served according to dietary restrictions, including low-sodium, Minced & Moist, Puree, chopped, diabetic, NCS, NAS, or other specialized diets.
  • Food Safety & Compliance: Understanding of food safety protocols and health department regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and ensure compliance during food preparation, storage, and service.
  • Knowledge of Food Allergens: Recognize common food allergens such as wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, gluten, and eggs.
  • Ability to Identify HACCP (CCPs): Recognize stages with contamination risks during cooking, cooling, or storage, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Report unusual conditions, behaviors, and resident reactions to appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Respond politely and professionally to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervision.
  • Protect confidential resident, family, and organizational information.
  • Follow all safety procedures and emergency protocols, including fire, disaster, and bomb threat procedures.
  • Adhere to organizational, departmental, and nursing procedures in performing duties.
  • Attend scheduled conferences and in-services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the position.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • One or more years of food service experience preferred.
