Job Description

Position Summary:

Level One Inspector inspects forged bars, rings, and/or rough machined parts to ensure conformance to specifications, assisting the Chief Inspector with minimal supervision.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Read blueprints and engineering specifications for product details.
2. Assess surface finish quality by tactile comparison with standard blocks.
3. Measure dimensions such as length, height, and distance between reference points.
4. Locate reference points and measure angles, arcs, etc.
5. Report findings and write Inspection Deviation Reports if needed.
6. Set up and calibrate inspection equipment.
7. Use formulas to determine dimensions not specified in blueprints.
8. Operate portable CMM and related equipment.
9. Handle heavy materials using forklifts and cranes.

Required Skills:

• Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
• Proficient in writing reports and correspondence.
• Basic mathematical skills including geometry and algebra.
• Problem-solving abilities in practical scenarios.
• Ability to follow multiple instructions in various formats.

Experience & Education:

• High School diploma or GED, or 5 years related experience.

Physical Demands:

Regular use of hands, reaching, talking, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Vision requirements include close, color, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:

Moderate noise, exposure to airborne particles and vibration, with accommodations available for disabilities. This role is for 2nd shift.
