Dimensional Control Engineer BIW

Job Summary:

Our client in Troy, MI is seeking a Dimensional Control Engineer BIW for a contract position. We are looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced engineer to develop, design, and execute all aspects of dimensional control, working closely with Product Engineering and Manufacturing/Operations teams to establish a robust, integrated strategy across product, subassembly, component, and process levels.   • Be an integral part of a team challenging vehicle design norms.
  • Develop and implement strategies for datum and dimensional control.
  • Manage all dimensional control aspects during design and manufacturing phases.
  • Lead collaboration with internal/external teams and suppliers to meet project requirements and timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of Datum and Dimensional Control Strategy.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments to execute the strategy and GD&T requirements.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to ensure program timing, performance, and budget are maintained.
  • Deliver a control strategy and process meeting product performance, CAPEX/OPEX, uptime, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Develop production processes, tooling standards, and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance product/process development efficiency.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve cross-functional issues to optimize enterprise-wide solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Prioritize safety to protect team members, partners, and assets.
  • Experience in executing Datum and Dimensional Control Strategies in automotive settings.
  • Knowledge of dimensional control, GD&T, quality systems, tooling, and operations.
  • Ability to implement innovative manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong ethics and integrity.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
