The New York Climate Exchange is seeking a creative and hands-on social content producer to translate climate research and partner activity into engaging narratives across platforms. You will help evolve our story and grow our audience.
Based in New York, NY with hybrid work, you will own publishing calendars, collaborate with the communications team, and produce multimedia assets (video, graphics, posts) that amplify our programs and partners.
The New York Climate Exchange (The Exchange) is a new nonprofit that unlocks climate solutions at speed and scale by activating a broad, multi-stakeholder model. Our diverse coalition of partners — committed and prepared to collectively disrupt the status quo — incorporates local and global perspectives on climate change from academia, the private sector, and community-level organizations; this multidisciplinary coalition speaks to the collaboration necessary to unlock integrated and scalable approaches to climate change. While The Exchange will be headquartered at a dedicated campus on Governors Island, its spirit and influence extends beyond the Island into New York City and across the country and world.
We're looking for someone with equal parts creative and operational. You understand how stories spread, what makes people stop scrolling, and how to turn complex climate research and partner activity into real conversation. You'll help evolve and strengthen The Exchange’s narrative.
Create original short-form video, graphics, carousels, and written content that showcases our programs, fellows, partners events, and progress around our climate campus on Governors Island
Turn announcements, program launches, research findings, and moments like Climate Week NYC into timely, high-impact content
Own the social content calendar and posting cadence on Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, balancing proactive storytelling with announcement-driven content and adapting for new platforms as we grow
Proactively identify and build relationships with influencers and creators in the climate, finance, and urban policy spaces, and partner with them to extend the reach
Source and showcase stories from our partners, fellows, students, and community members that feel authentic and human
Collaborate with our communications director, events associate, program leads, and partner institutions to surface stories worth amplifying, while keeping content consistent with our brand standards
Comfort with social publishing, analytics tools, and project management systems (experience with video editing tools and native platform editors a plus)
Strong organization skills with ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Contribute to The Exchange’s monthly newsletter, blog, and website content, and produce press-ready assets (photos, b-roll, fact sheets) in coordination with our PR efforts
Capture and repurpose content from events to reach larger audiences
Build social listening practices, stay ahead of platform trends, and pitch new content ideas and campaigns to leadership
Shepherd content through partner and internal approvals, build scalable production workflows, track performance, and report learnings clearly
3-5 years creating and managing social and digital content for a mission-driven, high-visibility organization or brand (experience with nonprofit, higher ed, climate, science, or human-design thinking a plus)
Strong platform-native instincts for Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, with a clear sense of what performs and why
Content creation skills: sharp copy, designer briefs, video storyboards, and shooting and editing compelling content on a phone or camera
Strong editorial judgment: you know which stories matter, when to post, and when to hold back
The ability to translate technical or research-heavy topics into accessible, engaging stories
The ability to move fast without sacrificing quality or accuracy
Genuine interest in climate, sustainability, and making cities more resilient and livable
Strong cross-functional communication skills, with comfort in ambiguity, multi-partner approvals, and a growing program
Camaraderie: you enjoy the nonprofit hustle and working as a team
Reports to: Director of Communications
Location: New York, NY (hybrid); Full-time
Salary range: $75,000–$85,000 annually
