Job summary

Brown University’s John Carter Brown Library seeks a Digital Research Associate to research, write, design, and publish digital materials tied to its early Americas collections. In the first year, you’ll conduct directed research and produce public-facing and scholarly work on the Brown Family Business Records and related topics.

In the second year, you’ll help select topics in dialogue with library leadership and advance documentary editions of manuscripts, with independent decision-making

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Library Science or relevant discipline.
• PhD preferred in a relevant field.
• At least 5 years of related experience.
• Experience with digital publishing platforms.
• Knowledge of eighteenth-century Americas.
• Experience adhering to archival handling protocols.

Responsibilities

• Research, write, design, and produce digital publications on library collections.
• Undertake directed research in the first year on Brown Family Business Records.
• Prepare public-facing and scholarly work for various audiences.
• Make designated manuscripts available to researchers as documentary editions.
• Manage independent project-related decisions.
