Job summary

The Digital Producer at Nexstar Media Group leads the transition from broadcast newsroom to multi-platform coverage, creating, editing, and writing original digital content beyond on-air material. You will collaborate with reporters, shoot and edit, and push stories across social channels.

You will build engaging campaigns, review copy for style and accuracy, and help grow local audiences on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and more through timely, on-brand storytelling.

Qualifications

• Social media experience and content creation across platforms.
• Experience or education in journalism is required.
• Proficiency with editing and design tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the transition to multi-platform newsrooms with original digital content.
• Manage social media strategy on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and others.
• Collaborate with reporters on story construction and publication.
• Shoot and edit content for digital platforms.
• Identify new ways to engage viewers via social channels.

Job description

The Digital Producer leads the transition from broadcast focused newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms through active daily example; creating/editing and writing original content beyond that which is produced for on-air.

• Expert understanding of Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and other social media platforms
• Uses our social media and website to build and reinforce brand recognition
• Collaborates with reporters on story construction and publication
• Shoots and edits content for digital
• Finds new ways to engage viewers through social media
• Reviews copy and will correct errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
• Gathers information about events through research, interviews, experience, or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social, or other functions
• Pitches on-brand local and trending stories
• Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Builds and calendars digital campaigns to promote local shows and specials
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

• Social media reel
• Experience/education in journalism
• Proficiency in Premier Pro, Photoshop, Canva, Capcut, Dreamweaver, and Basic HTML preferred
• Highly motivated and able to work independently while meeting deadlines
• Maintains positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments
• Responds positively to feedback
