RRD is seeking a Digital Press Operator Apprentice for the 3rd shift in Wisconsin. You will set up, adjust, operate, and maintain multiple press systems to meet quality standards.

Starting pay ranges from $20.00 to $26.00 per hour with a $3 shift premium; rotating weekends. The apprenticeship includes hands-on printing training and exposure to offset press processes, with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain press equipment
• Perform make-ready tasks: hang plates, install cylinders, inspect plates/cylinders, prep blankets, adjust tension and register
• Make color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specifications
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press; replace worn or broken parts as required
• Perform periodic maintenance per manufacturer recommendations
• Read and interpret job specifications; determine appropriate press usage, settings and materials

Available Shifts:

3rd Shift: 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM

• Rotating schedule of 3 days one week and 4 days the next week. Includes working Saturday/Sunday every other week.

Compensation:

Starting Pay Range: $20.00/hr - $26.00/hr

3rd Shift Premium: $3/hr

Job Duties:

• The position is responsible to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a number of press equipment


• Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and checks for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.


• Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work


• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required


• Performs periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer
  
  
  • Requires thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifiactions, equipment, and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments
  
  
  • Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully
  
  
  • Skill to make a variety of difficult precise settings of controls, settings, and adjustments, and to perform routine operational maintenance of equipment
  
  
  • Skill inroutine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment
  
  
  • Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain the proper printing pressure for the type of job being run
  
  
  • Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.
  
  

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $20.00 to $26.00 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may varybased upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In additionto base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential,.
