Job description

Job Summary: Alcom is looking for a Digital Press Operator on Second shift at our Harleysville, PA facility. In this position, you will perform manual and machine operator tasks in the set-up, production run, and maintenance of the digital printing presses. You will be responsible to meet on time delivery, high quality expectations, and customer specifications in a safe and efficient manner. Your primary responsibility is the operation and maintenance of the Konica Minolta KM-1 Digital Press.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversees that all safety procedures are being followed and that any unsafe conditions are corrected or reported to the manager.
  • Responsible to assist in training of new hires on press.
  • Provides an atmosphere that encourages cooperation and communication between co-workers.
  • Ability to read and understand the job jackets to set-up the digital press based on those instructions.
  • Makes Final pre-run inspection of the job for position by inspecting the first off sheet and doing a rule-up.
  • Responsible to establish and maintain the quality of a job within the tolerances.
  • Pulls quality control sheets throughout print run, signs, dates and time stamps pulled sheets.
  • Uses all press technologies, features, and materials necessary to maximize productivity during the production of jobs.
  • Understands color and the instruments used to monitor or correct color during a make-ready and press run.
  • Inputs accurate information into the data collection process.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on the press and records all repairs and maintenance in maintenance logbooks.
  • Responsible for maintaining and understanding all tools and instruments to operate and maintain the press.

Job Requirements:

  • Requires good knowledge color control in the printing process. The knowledge of applying jobs to press. The ability to read and understand written instructions on a job jacket, or from a supervisor to set-up the press and carry out instructions to produce a job. Thorough knowledge of problem-solving techniques on the digital press. Thorough knowledge of the digital press operations and function of all its components

Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED. Five years of printing experience referred; Previous Digital Printing experience preferred.
