Job summary

F. Schumacher & Co seeks a Digital Merchandising Manager to lead high-impact projects at the intersection of creative production, technology, and AI-enabled assets for product photography.

You will partner with Portfolio Development, Photo Studio, and Web Product Management to elevate imagery, guide strategy, and drive conversion across our site and channels.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in photo/creative production, project management, digital content, or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills for cross-functional initiatives.
  • Interest or experience with AI imaging tools and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Visual Inspiration & Conversion and define how product is shown to customers.
  • Define and roll out improved photography and post-production standards.
  • Partner with Web product management to test how imagery affects conversion.
  • Audit flats, dimensions, lifestyle, and rendering photography for quality.
  • Build web and content strategy and photo sequencing guidelines.
  • Collaborate with marketing, ecommerce, and creative teams on imagery strategy.
  • Create dynamic digital assets to assist decision-making on products.
  • Pilot AI tools to improve photo production speed and quality.
  • Stay current on AI imaging tech and lead in this space.
  • Scope, plan, and manage cross-functional projects with timelines and budgets.
  • Identify and manage freelancers and vendors as needed.

Role Overview

We are seeking a resourceful, creatively driven Digital Merchandising Manager to lead high-impact projects that elevate the quality, strategy, and technology behind our product photography. This role sits at the intersection of creative production and innovation — partnering with our Portfolio Development, Photo Studio Team, and Web Product Management teams to raise the bar on image quality, rethink how imagery is used across our website and sales channels and build new AI-enabled tools and assets that help designers better understand our product offerings. This is a project-leadership role, with this role directing and driving forward key initiatives in close partnership with the Head of Portfolio Development.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive Visual Inspiration & Conversion
  • Be a key leader on our team to define the way we show our product to our customers and drive conversion.
  • Define and roll out improved photography and post-production standards for existing and new products to drive augment customer inspiration
  • Partner with Web product management team to test and measure how imagery changes affect sample conversion and other key metrics.
  • Audit current flats, dimensions, lifestyle, and rendering photography to identify gaps in quality, consistency, and conversion performance.
  • Build Web & Content Strategy
  • Rethink which photo types should appear on product pages, and in what sequence, to best support the customer's decision-making journey.
  • Develop guidelines for photo selection, sequencing, and merchandising across the website and other digital touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with marketing, e-commerce, and creative teams to align imagery strategy with brand and sales goals.
  • Build and manage new, dynamic digital assets that enable designers and customers to make more informed decisions on our products.
  • Identify and pilot AI tools that improve photo production speed, quality, or scalability (e.g., AI-assisted retouching, upscaling, background generation).
  • Stay current on emerging AI imaging technology and bring forward recommendations for how FS&CO can lead in this space.
  • Scope, plan, and manage cross-functional projects from concept through launch, including timelines, budgets, and resourcing
  • Identify and manage freelance photographers, editors, and AI/technology vendors as needed to execute projects.
  • Partner with the Photo Studio team to prioritize project-based work alongside their core product photography workload.
  • Report progress, results, and recommendations to key stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • This is a project-based role and specific topic areas may vary over time.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to scope, plan, and drive cross-functional initiatives independently.
  • An eye for image quality and strong instincts for what drives customer engagement and conversion online.
  • Genuine interest in and familiarity with AI imaging tools and technology; hands-on experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable managing freelancers and outside vendors to execute against a project plan.
  • 3+ years of experience in photo/creative production, project management, digital content, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority, partnering closely with the Photo Studio team and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; background in photography, visual merchandising, e-commerce, or a related field a plus.
