Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Records Technician to support patient information management across federal health facilities in the United States. Qualifications

• 4 years of education above high school with creditable education related to the position.
• 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-4 in health information management functions including reviewing medical records, scanning, indexing, and filing into electronic health record systems, and processing release of information.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-5 and below.

Responsibilities

• Scanning, indexing, and filing of non-electronic medical and administrative information/forms.
• Maintains daily log of documents scanned, filed, and indexed.
• Responds to customer information requests in a positive and efficient manner.
• Performs qualitative reviews on work performed by self and other scanned documents.
