Position Summary:

The Digital Matte Painter is responsible for painting photorealistic environments and landscapes. This artist will paint environments, elements, and textures for matching into live action plates or standing as their own matte painting plates.

Main Duties:

• Create environment, character, and FX concept art within feature film production timelines.
• Create photorealistic digital paintings using 2D and 3D techniques.
• Develop style frames and paint overs to establish the look of the sequence for other artists.
• Set up and apply 3D projection in Nuke and Maya, and create and publish slap-comp in Nuke.

What You Bring:

• Expert working knowledge of Photoshop, Maya, Nuke, and other VFX software.
• Experience creating digital paintings of photorealistic environments based on concept art and/or photo references.
• Strong understanding of light, color, and perspective, with excellent artistic communication skills and an eye for detail.
• Good understanding of 2D and 3D workflows.
• Adaptability and eagerness to learn new skills, techniques, and workflows.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.
• Familiarity with Houdini is a plus.
