Job summary

KMRG, LLC is seeking a Metadata Librarian to support the USACE Mission Support Battalion Library in Alexandria, VA. You will catalog materials, create and maintain metadata, and ensure accurate descriptions across multiple formats to support interoperability and long-term access.

The role requires an MLS/MLIS, 2+ years of cataloging experience, and familiarity with CONTENTdm, DSpace, and Knowvation. This is an onsite position with the ability to handle older materials carefully.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS degree from an accredited program
• 2+ years of professional original and copy cataloging experience
• Cataloging experience with monographs, audiovisuals, maps, manuscripts, rare books
• Experience with CONTENTdm, DSpace, Knowvation
• Familiarity with MARC, MODS, Dublin Core metadata standards
• Ability to develop or maintain metadata files and identify errors
• Experience supporting digitization and digital-library ingestion
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Perform original and copy cataloging for materials in various formats
• Create, edit, and maintain metadata supporting USACE digital-library collections
• Apply MARC, MODS, and Dublin Core standards to metadata
• Identify and correct metadata errors to improve discoverability
• Support description of monographs, audiovisuals, maps, manuscripts, rare books
• Support ingestion and digitization of USACE publications and materials
• Prepare and validate metadata for discoverability and interoperability
• Coordinate cataloging with established USACE workflows
• Handle older or delicate source materials carefully
• Maintain metadata integrity across CONTENTdm, DSpace, Knowvation platforms
